I upgraded my 8-year-old Samsung TV to the 77-inch LG G5 OLED. In this video, I compare OLED vs Mini LED, explain why I chose the LG G5, and share my setup and first impressions.
After years of putting it off, it was finally time to replace my old living room TV. I researched QLED, Mini LED, and OLED, debated between 55″, 65″, and 77″, and eventually landed on the LG G5 OLED.
I walk through why I chose the G5 over the LG C5, why the extra brightness mattered for my bright living room, gaming and sports, what surprised me about the separate TV stand, the unboxing/setup process, and what I actually think after seeing the 77″ G5 in my space.

UPDATE: I ended up mounting the G5! I guess I am a wall mount type of person after all 😅 Especially with this TV. It looks SO good.
Should’ve got the Samsung S95H which was the winner of the coveted Value Electronics TV shootout. Might not get as bright as the tandem OLED G5 but the color accuracy of QD-OLED is almost perfect out of the box.
i will never go under a 75 inch tv again. hell i use a 55 inch as a monitor. so my main tv has to be a monster. but in bright rooms you cant beat the new rgb mini leds. i bought the g5 just was not bright enough. i settled on the hisense UR8 85 inch rgb mini led. and i will tell its 99% close to the black levels as the oled and way brighter for large bright rooms
Given the direct reflections I think the s95h would have been the better purchase unless you like staring at your overhead light while you watch TV.
I had a 40″ Toshiba. It was a good tv. Had it for like 7 years til one day it just took a dump. So I had to upgrade to a 55″ Pioneer Xumo UHD 4K TV And this puppy is amazing!!!! Now I regret not getting the 65″! 😂
